Both the ecological and the social crisis are more than obvious. However, politicians don’t react at all, or they don’t react enough. Except for stubborn dumbness, this is deliberate: they want to be re-elected. So the real problem are elections. They keep powerful people from deciding what – at the best – they know would be urgent and necessary for the survival of civilization. So we must abolish elections and replace them by something more democratic, more appropriate to tackle the challenges to avoid the nearing catastrophe: Sortition.
